Why do you want to be an IFAD Ambassador?
Flow arts has been such a positive tool for so many petiole, in regards to physical health, mental health, making friends, etc, and the fact that we are all over this world makes it that much more special. IFAD highlights this art that brings us all so much joy, no matter where we are on the planet.
If you were to become an IFAD Ambassador, what kind of event do you imagine hosting?
If not at the main event, I'd love to host a whole weekend of workshops and flow jams here in Houston, Texas, including as many flow disciplines as possible.
Tell us a bit about yourself, and share your flow story with us!
I began hooping in 2010, after moving to a new state and city. Hooping was on a list I made of "things I want to learn before I turn 30", and before I hit that magical number, I was already teaching. I created HoopCubed in 2011, and offer hoop dance and burlesque instruction, as well as hand made hoops. I also created the HoopCubed Hoop Dance teacher training, focusing on the body positive aspects of teaching. In addition to live trainings, it is also offered online now. In 2015 I completed the 200hr HoopYogini™ instructor training, a practice that melds together the hoop, yoga, and mindfulness meditation. The following year I became a Master Trainer. I've several other yoga, dance, and hoop certifications, but what I'm MOST proud of is that moment when a new student "gets it" and moves the hoop around their body, and a hoop dancer is born. Nothing is better than that!!
This year in 2020 I'm teaching at Flow Fest Texas, in 2019 I taught a burlesque fusion class at Crio de Bambole, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, along with Deanne Love of Hooplovers and Jocelyn Gordon of HoopYogini™. I've also taught at multiple Wanderlust 108 events, as well as YoUniverSoul.
